Second Week At Pathways

August 30, 2013 -
My culinary program hasn't started; however, I recently had an interview with the director and teacher/main chef. The interview went great and I was chosen to be one of the 10 students to receive a $10,000 educational grant to cover the cost of this program. This class will teach us from basic cooking skills to advanced knife skills. Taking this class will be the same as if I took a regular class at Le Cordon Bleu. They will teach us everything from being in the back of the kitchen to being in the front and catering. This program will give strong preparation for employment. As soon as I finish this program in December, I will be prepared to work in the back of the kitchen and start cooking at restaurants. I am so excited to have this opportunity and start next week! This type of opportunity is a once-in-a-lifetime chance and I am taking it with no hesitation!

First Week At Pathways

August 23, 2013 -
The Pathways Program is a program that helps students achieve their goals. It helps students find their passion towards a career they would like to pursue. My future goals are to go to the Le Cordon Bleu college in San Francisco and major in Culinary Arts or baking. I decided to join Pathways because I was informed that there was a great opportunity to take a culinary class where I could earn a ServSafe Certificate. I'm looking forward to graduating high school; earning that high school diploma and moving on with my life. I hope my internship at New Beginnings in Novato meets my expectations. I'm only taking this Culinary ROP class because it meets Monday through Friday from 8am - 3pm. The program is for one semester and in the second semester, I think I'm going to take a garden class at College of Marin so that I could learn how to grow my own food and use it in my cooking. I haven't gone to my class yet because we start September 3rd, but I am very excited and looking forward to when that day comes.
